Healthcare system Beliefs Discussion
I believe the healthcare system was using utilitarianism, considering the needs of the many over the needs of the few. It decided to fund suicide instead of drugs that would prolong life. It appears that this decision was made because the chemotherapy drugs were more expensive for one person than the death drugs were for many.
When one strays from biblical teachings as his source for right and wrong, he gets into trouble. I am not sure that it is wrong to deny coverage for things that genuinely are unaffordable (one would need more information to determine the veracity of such a claim).
I think the real issue is that they have lost sight of the biblical prohibition of taking lives (Exodus 20:13, New American Standard), and also the biblical concept that God gives His people the ability to find joy in every circumstance (Habakkuk 3:17-19). Even in great pain, the Christian can find great joy and can know that He will be shortly out of pain, but it is not up to him or her to decide when.
If the health system had abided by biblical principles, it would not have made such an offensive decision. Perhaps one would not be upset about the lack of coverage for drugs to help them live if medications to help them die were not covered.
Also, though the Christian will not live on this earth forever, he will live in perfect peace and joy for eternity after death. So, as Paul said, “To live is Christ, and to die is gain” (Philippians 1:21).
But the non-Christian can claim none of these benefits, and so he is left floundering to come up with the best way of doing things. Utilitarianism makes sense if there is no independent source of right and wrong (but not to the minority who is perhaps looking after his own needs).

I believe not only court decision has changed its foundation, but some religions are also changing in these modern times. I certainly not sure what will replace them but it is a type of movement in which the bases are still there, but they can have some exceptions.
It is hard to find something about homosexuality in the Bible, but it is clear that it is not something approved. I would refer this to the passage in Leviticus:
“‘Do not have sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman; that is detestable
“Everyone who does any of these detestable things—such persons must be cut off from their people. Keep my requirements and do not follow any of the detestable customs that were practiced before you came and do not defile yourselves with them. I am the Lord your God” (Leviticus 18-20 New International Version.)
Yes, based on the Bible many actual actions are wrong and have been changing in America lately. In my opinion, in these modern times, most of the changes have been adopted the Deontology ethics and the Utilitarianism ethic.
Deontology as the book explains: “moral philosophies that focus on the rights of individuals and the intentions associated with a particular behavior, rather than on is consequences.” (Mintz & Morris, p. 25)
Utilitarianism, “follow a relatively straightforward method for deciding the morally correct course of action for any particular situation.” (Mintz & Morris, p. 24)
Therefore, I think that both of this had a significant influence in our society while taking decisions, but I still believe that most is still based on the Greek philosophy, it is changing, but I do not think that is going to change completely. Healthcare system Beliefs Discussion
