TASKS: Visit the CDC website and research the topic “Healthy People 2020” to gain understanding of the initiative established by the government in relation to this topic: objectives of the program, methods used for data collection, topics covered under this program, and status of the program. Review table 7.2 Sayles text and identify the standard(s) that comply with the accuracy and integrity of proper data collection for HP2020; system(s) used by healthcare organizations to comply with standards established by the program (EHRs, Registries, etc.).
After visiting the CDC website and researching the topic, report your findings in an essay format. Your essay must indicate the role of HIM professionals in the process of data collection and maintenance; Different mechanisms of data collection and reporting used by healthcare organizations; Internal and external users that may use data to make decisions. You must indicate which specialized HIM software are often used to collect these data. Be sure to cite your source(s) properly and provide any other related material (articles) used in your research.
