You are to complete an oral presentation of the research paper and related solution to relevant stakeholders in the area of interest, ministry, or the workplace. Examples of stakeholders include a work supervisor or team, a group of peers from a club or other organization, a Sunday School superintendent or board, pastor, director, supervisor, or leader.Transcript should follow along with powerpoint slides. Topic: Body Image (Needs to be specific, not just an overall problem. For example, problem of perceiving a negative body image, and how to help people develop a healthier image of their body.

Overview: The capstone assignment for this course consists of a four part research paper. The research paper is to focus on improving a process or resolving a situation in an area of interest, ministry, or the workplace. The research paper is to serve as the basis for a powerpoint and oral presentation with key stakeholders of the group or organization in the area of interest, ministry, or workplace. The assignment is designed to use an inductive “case study” approach to familiarize students with various theories as they conduct research for their particular situation. Students will research topics such as leadership, conflict resolution, group communication, organizational structure, organizational dynamics, and continuous improvement as they perform each step of a four step (Description, Diagnosis, Prescription, and Application) research method. Students are to identify a club, group or organization they participate in or consider themselves to be a member of. The most typical organization would be an employer. However, other groups or clubs might be service clubs like a local chamber of commerce, rotary club, Lions club, Habitat for Humanity, or the American Legion. Less formal groups would include ministerial associations, Sunday School class, Bible study group, a sewing circle, or a fantasy sports league. Students are to find a process or situation in their group or organization that needs improvement or correction, and to engage in a four step method, the goal of which is to recommend an improvement or remedy for that particular situation. Each step of the method comprises one of the parts of the research paper, and is as follows:

Part 1: Describe the situation (three pages)

Clearly identify and summarize the situation The situation could as informal as two members of the same sewing circle not getting along; or as formal as a multi-million dollar production process at work turning out faulty product. The description should include a background or history of the particular situation; a comparison with similar examples or cases from other groups or organizations; and relevant details of the situation. The “deliverable” of this step is a title page of your research paper formatted according to APA, three pages of text formatted according to APA formatting, and three scholarly references on a reference page done in APA formatting.

Part: 2 Diagnose the situation (three pages)

Clearly Diagnose the situation What are possible reasons for the situation? Some reasons might include, but not be limited to: • Leadership • Processes • A lack of vision, mission, or purpose • Inadequate resources (money, people, technology, outreach) • Ethical issues (corruption, fraud, safety concerns, etc.) Identify as many of the possible causes that may have contributed to this dilemma. The diagnosis should include a comparison of similar examples or cases from other groups or organizations; and supporting evidence for possible reasons relevant to this particular situation. The “deliverable” for this step is three pages of text formatted according to APA formatting, and three new additional scholarly references, not included in the description step, on a reference page done in APA formatting. Part 3: Prescribe possible solutions this situation (five pages)

Prescribe possible solutions • Describe three or more possible solutions to this situation. • Utilize at least two peer-reviewed scholarly journal articles to support each solution. For example, if you describe three solutions, you should have at least six scholarly articles to support your solution. You may use books to support your solutions, but you must use scholarly articles. The “deliverable” of this step is five pages of text formatted according to APA formatting, and six new additional references, not included in the previous two steps, on a reference page done in APA formatting.

Part 4: Apply the BEST solution to the situation (three pages)

Select the best solution from the three or more possible solutions, and explain why this is the best solution. • Provide analytic data (if available), interviews from experts, key reports (from the Department of Labor Statistics, U.S. Census Data, etc.) or any other corroborating information that supports your reasoning. The “deliverable” of this step is three pages of text formatted according to APA formatting, and three new additional references, not included in the previous three steps, on a reference page done in APA formatting.
